In this segment of tutorial exercise you will learn to create a circular instance array on an existing solid model. Follow the instruction as shown below:

Step 1
Create a solid body as shown in Figure 1. {Follow First 9 steps in Extrude - Tutorial for beginners to create a solid body as shown in Figure 1, with 100 mm diameter and 5 mm thickness}.

Figure 1.

Step 2
Now let us create a simple hole as shown in Figure 2.{ See Hole - Tutorial for beginners to learn how a hole is created on a solid body, in this case I have created a hole with 5mm depth}.

Figure 2.

Step 3
Now select instance feature from tool bar as shown in Figure 3.

Figure 3.

Step 4
After selecting instance feature tool "Instance" dialogue appears as shown in Figure 4. Select Circular array option from the dialogue box as shown in Figure 4.

Figure 4.

Step 5
After circular array option is selected from instance dialogue box, you are asked to select the feature that has to be arrayed. I have selected simple hole as shown in Figure 5.

Figure 5.

Step 6
After selecting simple hole enter the parameters in "Instance" dialogue box and click ok as shown in Figure 6. {In this case I have entered no. of instances as eight and the angle between any two instances as 45 degrees}

Figure 6.

Step 7
Now you are asked to select the direction of the instance as shown in Figure 7. Click Point _Direction as shown in Figure 7.

Figure 7.

Step 8
After clicking "Point _Direction" you are prompted to specify the direction in "Vector Constructor". Select "Edge/Curve Vector" and select the edge of circular solid body and click ok as shown in Figure 8.

Figure 8.

Step 9
When "Point Constructor" dialogue box appears just click ok and when prompted to confirm to create instances click yes and the resultant solid part would be as shown in Figure 9.
