Step 21
Now we have to delete some of the circle as it is supposed to go from the front around the back, but we aren’t going to use the eraser tool. There is a much better way of doing it so we can reuse the circle later on and modify the erased parts. This is the layer mask. Click the ‘add layer mask’ icon, (circled red). The color palette will change to black and white. You must remember that ‘Black conceals while white reveals’. Basically, if you now take the paint brush tool and start painting black over the ring, it will disappear. But if you press ‘X’ on the keyboard to make white the foreground color and paint over the same place, the ring will return. This is much better than just erasing the parts of the circle as can go back later on and change whatever we want.

Step 22
We give the ring another layer style, this time a bevel and emboss but with a little difference. Click on the ‘Gloss Contour’ graph and a new screen pops up with a diagonal line going from the bottom left corner to the top right. Click on this line and a point appears. You then drag this point up and to the left. Make another point and drag it down and to the right so that it resembles the image below. You will see that the ring changes each time you move something which is really good as it gives you an instant result.

Step 23
Let’s make it a golden ring. Click on the ‘color overlay’ box, then the color selector rectangle. Use the color picker to get a dark yellowy color.
