Welcome to the next part of tutorial on UVWs unwrapping, as we have already finished unwrapping face, ear, arm and palm area now let’s start unwrapping torso area. As there are many ways in modeling in the same way there are as many techniques in unwrapping 3D mesh according to our requirement and convenience. In this case we can either use ‘Cylindrical’ mapping technique or we can use ‘Planar’ mapping method, as I feel ‘Planar’ mapping technique is more easy to work with and also I feel more comfortable working with ‘Planar’ mapping technique, so let us use the same and get started.
 
Step One
Now let us first convert the male character object into ‘Editable Poly’ and then let us use ‘Unwrap UVW’ modifier and then let us start selecting the front faces of torso as shown below.

Step Two
Let us select only the front part of the torso and make sure that nothing else is selected as shown below.

Step Three
Now let us apply ‘Planar’ mapping to the selected face and then ‘Align’ it to ‘Y’ axis as shown below
